Disney World Part 2 - Disney Kids Races

We woke up Saturday morning and headed over to the Wide World of Sports to let the girls run in the RunDisney Kid Races.  Hadley loves to run and always wants to go to my races with me so I thought this would be just perfect for her.  I wasn't sure how Hunter Claire would do but I went ahead and signed her up anyways.

The bus guy at our resort had told us to be at the busses by 8:15 so we could be on as soon as they started running at 8:30.  We were the last people on the first bus that departed so we arrived at the event about 8:50.  I wasn't really sure what to expect so we headed on down to the race track.

They had lots of music and fun "warm up" stuff going on for the kids.  HC's 100m race was first so she and I headed into her corral area (for 1-3 year olds) while Jarrod and Hadley went and found a spot to watch.

There were several hundred kids in her group and pretty much all had parents running with them.  They would call about 15 or so up at a time to the start line and send them off in waves every few minutes.  After about 5 minutes or so, it was finally our turn and we headed to the start line.

HC was all excited until she looked down the track and saw hundreds of people lined up on both sides watching and cheering and she quickly decided she was not going to run.  So when the guy told us to go, I trotted 100 meters carrying HC in my arms, probably looking like a goof ball but that's okay!  We (I really mean I) got to high-5 Minnie at the finish line and were handed a banana and gogo squeeze as we finished.  That was obviously Hunter Claire's favorite part of the race!

When we got finished, they were lining up Hadley's group so Jarrod took her to her corral area with the rest of the 4-6 year olds while HC and I found a place in the stands to watch.

Hadley totally rocked her race!  Jarrod said her Minnie Mouse ears fell off when she took off so she had to come back and get them but by time she rounded the corner where I could see, she was coming from behind racing past all the other kids and finished out in front.  She was so pumped when she realized the announcer was talking about her when she said to "look at that princess on the run!" It was so exciting to watch and I am not even going to lie, I may have teared up a little bit.

GoGo Squeeze was a big sponsor of the race so they were handing them out everywhere.  HC loves little squeezes so I am pretty sure she had like 10 that morning.  I really had no idea what the expect from the event.  I didn't know anyone who had done it before and couldn't find a lot of information on it but the whole Kids Race experience was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed it. I would highly recommend!  We snapped a few more pictures and grabbed a few more squeezes before stopping back by the expo for some new headbands and heading back to the resort to change clothes and meet up with the others.
