Thanksgiving 2015

So I have gotten horrible about taking pictures lately! I've never enjoyed taking them and it's just such a struggle with my two that I've gotten to where I just don't take them much so please forgive me for not having loads of pictures to share! Most of these were stolen from others..

I started the day off scratching the first four miles off my 100 mile challenge and then came home to cook with my little "cooker" a bit before heading to my aunts house for lunch with my family.

After that, we headed to Jarrod's parents house for dinner with his moms side of the family. We also got to celebrate Mimi's birthday as well!

Seriously you see why I don't do many pictures... This is how they always turn out!

While the rest of the world spent over $59 billion, we snoozed away in our nice warm beds! I got up and crossed a few more miles off my challenge while the other slept in super late (well way past 8:00 which is super late at our house). Haha someone shared this and I just loved it! I just do not like Black Friday at all especially since they've pushed it all into Thursday evening but that's another complaint for another day...

We then, got pretty much all of our Christmas decorations up around the house and then headed to Hatton for Thanksgiving dinner with Jarrods dads side of the family.

It's been a busy few days but we have all really enjoyed spending time with our families and eating lots of really great food!

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

Thanksgiving may be my favorite Holiday! You get all the good food and family time without the hassle of gifts or the busyness. You just cook and show up and eat! Or at least that's what we do!

I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. I leave the turkey and dressing to the rest of the family and like to venture out a little on what I take. This year that involves pineapple casserole, butternut squash and apple bake, banana pudding, and butterfinger bites! My kitchen has been a total mess but smells delicious!

We also went to Jarrod's parents today to help them get ready for dinner at their house tomorrow. We made some pecan pies and some other fun and yummy things I can't wait to try tomorrow!

I'm also starting a running challenge tomorrow where I am attempting to run 100 miles between Thanksgiving and New Years which is definitely going to be quite a challenge to me! I've made my plan and am looking forward to getting a little creative with getting some extra miles in!

Between all the Thanksgiving gatherings, the Iron Bowl, and finishing up my Christmas decorating, this is going to be a busy fun-filled holiday break!

Stewardshipan ethic that embodies the responsible planning and management of resources - has been on my mind lately.  The Bible has a lot to say about being good stewards.

I Peter 4:10 says " As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God."  God asks us to be good stewards of our gifts, our money, our work, our time.

I read an article the other day that really spoke to me about being a good steward of our money.  I will admit, I have not always been the best when it comes to that part of my life.  It is so easy to get caught up in the material things of this world.  We are all human and have fleshly desires which include nice homes and new cars and lots of clothes and purses and jewelry.  We all want a big TV and fine leather furniture so we can sit on it in our cashmere sweaters and down blankets.  We want to take luxurious vacations with our new bathing suits and ski coats so we can eat expensive food and post about it on Facebook on our fancy iphones.  Our lives are so materialistic, that it's almost sickening when you really stop and think about it.

When Jesus said to take up our cross daily and follow him, he didn't mean in all areas of your life except for your finances.  "Don't worry about that part.  Please do what you want with it."  No - he did not say that.  He meant in everything.  I don't want to live with guilt and regret that I did not take care of the resources that He has blessed me with all because I wanted some fancy new gadget or toy.  Tithing has become such an important part of my walk with Christ.  Even though it seems like a small thing to most people, it is one part of my life that I have strove to become more and more obedient with.  It has taken me months, years even, to really understand the importance of this.  First, I had to really get it in my mind that everything belongs to him.  I have nothing.  I brought nothing here and I take nothing out.  Everything belongs to God and he has trusted me to take care of them and give back to him what belongs to him while using the rest to bring glory and honor to his name.  He didn't give it to me to be selfish with and focus it all on me, me, and me.

And the more I focus on the idea of stewardship, the happier I am knowing that I am doing what Christ wants me to do with the resources he has provided for me.  I am still not 100% where I should be and I doubt I will ever get there this side of Heaven, but the peace and contentment I find in this stewardship outweighs all the new toys and fancy vacations that I think I need.  It is especially easy to get caught up in this going into this holiday season and I pray that God will guide me and give the control I need to be a good steward of all the resources he has blessed me with.

Happy Birthday Jarrod!

Yesterday was Jarrod's 28th birthday!
I've been slacking this year so he doesn't get the usual elaborate birthday video.

We celebrated by having a little family outing to Outback so he could get a good birthday steak.

When we got there, it was super windy so we grabbed the girls out of the car and ran in quickly. As soon as we sat down, I realized HC didn't have on any shoes! I was so embarrassed being that mom who takes my child in public with no shoes. Luckily, dad ran out to the car and grabbed them for us.

After dinner, we headed to "daddy's store" aka Academy to do a little browsing before heading home. I love spending time with my friends and family but I really love these little family outings when it's just us four.

Too bad I only managed to take like two pictures... Oops! We are so thankful for the man of our house! He works hard to take care of us and pitch in. He loves his girls and I am so proud how he sets a great example by being involved in church!

On another note... My friend Magen also had her baby yesterday! I'm so glad little Thomas and Jarrod can share the same birthday! Mason was so excited to meet his little brother!
