Back to Life.. Back to Reality

After months of this crazy pandemic world, we are finally getting back to what feels more normal for our house.  We love being together and having time at home but our family really enjoys being involved in other things as well and it feels so good to finally be able to add class schedules and ball games and school assignments to my planner.

The girls have absolutely loved being at school.  There are a ton of changes and precautions being taken but their teachers and staff have done a really great job at making school as normal as possible.  The girls come home chatting every single day about how great and wonderful it is and all the fun they are having with their friends and teachers.  If we questioned our decision to send them back to traditional school at all, their giddiness definitely makes it all worth it.  We celebrated a great first week with pizza and movie night at home with my parents.

Jarrod and I snuck away for a night with our friends to Ross Bridge.  The boys golfed while we lounged by the pool and got massages at the spa.  It was a really nice little get away that we both enjoyed.

We are back in full swing at the ball field with the Lollipops.  HC is really loving this season and is doing so great.  It's really been a lot of fun so far coaching and cheering in this little group of girls.

We enjoyed some time by the pool biking and walking at our local green way on the weekends.  It is best little shaded trail with a creek.  The girls thought it was great to get in and walk on the rocks and skip some rocks.

And the girls got to start back to dance as well!  Hadley is doing competition team this year so it's a little but more commitment for her and a few more hours spending at the dance studio.  She is really excited about it and I am really proud of how hard she has been working for it.

It's really been a great few weeks getting back to normal and we are all loving it! It's amazing what a little normalcy can do to our moods and energy and just all the good things that come with our comfortable routines! We are so thankful for these days and definitely have a new appreciation for them!

First Day of School 2020

Yesterday was the first day of school and to say these two were happy would be an understatement!  They were up and ready early and so ready to get to school to see their friends and officially meet their new teachers.  I was a little worried about just having to drop them off on the first day and not being able to go in and get them settled but they literally jumped out the car and went right in without ever even looking back. I may have teared up a little bit as I headed home to an empty house.

It was so bittersweet for me.  I loved being able to drop them off and pick them up since I am working from home now.  It's definitely a sweet time that I have not been able to do regularly and as little and meaningless as it seems, it was something that I loved being able to do.

If I ever questioned sending the girls back to traditional school, the joy they had when they got home yesterday erased any doubt.  They were literally overjoyed and chatted all day about it.  Not once did they complain about masks or social distancing or being contained to just their class for the time being.  They didn't even care or worry one bit about all that.  Kids really are resilient and see the cup as half full all the time and I am so thankful for that.  I am also so thankful for our school system, teachers, and administrators who have gone above and beyond to make this year work for our kids.  They are providing a safe environment while still allowing the kids some normalcy and enjoyment at school.  I know they have been working extra hard to get ready for this year and I am so thankful for that.

We celebrated a great first day with a stop by Kreme Delite. They were ready for bed last night and up ready to go bright and early again today.  It was a great day and we are looking forward to a really great year ahead in 2nd and 4th grade
