How Great Thou Art

Heard this on the radio this morning and just wanted to share. This is an amazing performance of this beautiful song. It brings tears to my eyes every time I hear this hymn. Definitely my all time favorite. This song just always makes me think about how blessed I am and how great my God is to not only give me so much here on Earth, but also save me and prepare a beautiful Heaven for me and my loved ones when we leave this place.

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made; I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander, And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees. When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the Cross,my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation, And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart. Then I shall bow, in humble adoration, And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

Trunk or Treat

Today was yet another busy and cold day!  We got up and went to church this morning.  I had to stay in Children's Church which completely overwhelms me.  I'm okay with one toddler and maybe two toddlers but FIVE.. not so much!  After church, Hadley wanted to go to Babu and Gigi's so she went there while I went to Calhoun for our Alumni Game.  I have only been graduated from there for 5 years but man did I feel old!  I didn't play or I probably would have felt even more old!  I was in kindergarten before some of those girls were even born.  But its always fun to see everyone each year and catch up.  Not many from my class got to come today but it is still fun to see everyone.

Tonight we put our pig costume on again and went to the Trunk or Treat at Babu and Gigi's church.  My little piggy was adorable and had a big time.  She didn't care as much about getting candy as she did riding the train and climbing on the slide!

Yes that is my very brave two year old up at the top!

Pictures and Pumpkins

Of course the one Saturday this month that we have plans to do something outside, it is absolutely freezing but we had a good time anyways!  We started out this morning getting Halloween pictures made.  I was so glad to get Hadley's pictures made in her costume so we don't have to spend forever trying to get a picture on Halloween.  Very worth paying someone else to do this for me!  Hadley was very excited about wearing her pig costume!  I told her she had to sit still and smile for her pics and she took me a little too literally.  She wouldn't even change her pose the whole time!

This afternoon, we went to the pumpkin patch with Laura Leigh, Mason, and Magen.  Hadley and Mason had adorable matching pumpkin outfits to wear but considering it was 50 degrees and super windy, we left those at home and just bundled up in our warm clothes instead.  Hadley loved seeing the animals and playing on the playground.  And of course riding on the hay ride through the "cotton candy" fields to pick our pumpkin that we ended up not even buying.
The big truck full of cotton was a great idea!

I think LL loved the pigs more than anything!

Meet and Greet

Hello all! I am Lacey and this is my first ever blog post! First and foremost, I am a Christian saved by God’s grace.  Without him, who knows where I would be!  I am a bit of a nerd.  I love budgets and spreadsheets.  In fact, that is pretty much what I do for a living. I spend my days playing with spreadsheets to estimate costs, make budgets, and help manage them.  I am very thankful for my job!  My husband calls me cheap but I just say that I love saving money.  Every once in awhile I get in a couponing mood and will do that but I really just buy off brand or sale stuff.  Besides the essentials, I hardly ever buy anything unless it is on sale!  I love consignment. I would love to own my own consignment store one day. I am always checking out the local consignment shops, used clothes websites, and online yard sales.  I am sure I will have a whole other post someday about this topic.  I like to cook even though I don’t get to as much as I would like.  I love trying new recipes and rarely cook the same things more than a few times.  There are just too many other good things out there!  I don’t get home from work usually until about 5:30 or so, so our suppers are usually quick and convenient meals.  My crockpot is my favorite thing in my kitchen and Pinterest is my favorite place to go to find recipes!   I haven’t found a bad recipe on there yet!  But enough about me…

The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful family.  My husband, Jarrod, was my high school sweetheart.  We met through mutual friends and pretty much dated all through high school (besides our occasional “break ups” that would last a few weeks).  I was a year ahead of him in school so I graduated and went on to play softball at Calhoun which was a whole 10 minutes from his house!  The next year he joined me at Calhoun where he played baseball.  We had some of the best times during those few years at Calhoun and shared most of the same friends.  We got married a couple of years later in 2009.  Jarrod is your stereotypical southern Alabama man.  He loves to hunt and fish, watch football and baseball, play ball, play guitar, and reminisce about Friday night football and baseball championships.  He works maintenance but I tell him all the time that he should’ve been a car salesman or work at a pawn shop because he is always buying and selling things but that’s a whole other topic as well!  Jarrod is a wonderful husband.  He helps with the laundry and even does the dishes!  I can’t even imagine anything better than that!  He is great.  He takes care of us and loves us.  He comes from a great family and is truly my best friend.  I am so thankful for my husband!

We are proud parents to the most wonderful little two year old!  Hadley Elizabeth was born July 2010 (yes that is only 13 months after we got married).  She is the most energetic, fun-loving, entertaining, funniest blonde hair, blue eyed, little girl I know.  She definitely brings a smile to my face every day!  She loves Elmo, Barney, dress up shoes, doll houses, go-gurt, purses, climbing, dancing, and chocolate milk more than anything!  She is one very loved little girl by all and brings so much joy to our lives! And... she is going to be a big sister in March!  We are so excited to be adding another little girl to our family.  Hadley already wants to hug her and kiss her and is so sweet to her baby sister.  She is going to be a great big sister!

Anyways, this is just a little introduction to me and my little family.  I just wanted to start this blog as somewhat of a journal of my life.  Time goes by so fast that I just sometimes want to freeze time to sit down and enjoy it more!
