School’s Out for Summer

School is officially out for summer and what a crazy year it’s been! Never in my life did I imagine that I would be a home-school mom and Lord knows why! We made it through but not gonna lie, it was not near as much fun as “real school.” We struggled with missing our friends and staying motivated and being sad about it all but we really tried to make the best of it!

To add to the fun, Hunter Claire had an accident on her bike and gashed her foot open last week. We hurried her to the ER. Only one parent could go in with her so I had to sit in the car and wait (considering my last adventure with stitches, we thought it best that dad tag along). They had her in and out pretty quickly but my sweet mom came by to keep me company for a bit while I waited. HC left with a new mask and seven stitches.

The girls school hosted Virtual Field Day on our planned day for school. We joined my sister and niece for the festivities. It wasn’t quite as fun as the real deal but I think the girls enjoyed it.. at least HC with her bummed foot was still able to participate!

Our niece Alli graduated high school so we enjoyed a fun party with family! They had restrictions on the graduation ceremony but we were glad to we got to celebrate her accomplishments anyways!

We got to get back to the dance studio this past week so that was exciting! We were so glad to have a little bit of our normal life back and were really not loving the zoom classes. The teachers have done a great job keeping the girls connected but we were super glad to be back and even more happy to see our friends!

We finished up our last few school assignments and went to pick up day at school. It was like Christmas for the girls! They loved getting to see their teachers for a few minutes and pick up all their school stuff plus a few treats their teachers had added to their piles. We celebrated with a little trip to McDonalds to celebrate a job well done!

Since Hadley goes to the Intermediate school next year and didn’t get to have an official graduation ceremony at school, we gave her a little surprise party at home to celebrate our little elementary school graduate. We decorated the living room with all things Hadley and enjoyed ice cream and sweets with our family. I could not be more proud of her and  of the beautiful little lady she is becoming!  She has loved every single minute of her elementary school days.  She loved her teachers and made some of the very best friends.. She has worked so hard and done so well with her school work. She I is smart and fun and friendly and always works hard at everything she does! I am so proud of my little graduate even though it’s killing me to see her get so big so fast!

The girls had their last little zoom meetings with the classmates and told them all goodbye for the summer. I may have shed a tear or two watching. We cleaned up our little school area at home and packed it all away. I know I’ve said it a million times but I am so so sad we missed out on so much with missing the last months of the school year but I really don’t think I will ever forget my time as a homeschool mom... and will never ever appreciate teachers more than I do after this! I really am proud of the girls for taking it for what it was and getting it all done without complaining (much) even though I know it stunk just as much for them as it did for me.

Glad it’s officially time to kick off summer!!
