The girls' dance studio hosted a drive through donut day. The girl enjoyed seeing their teachers and grabbing a few donuts!
We had our biggest canoe adventure ever... really more like biggest scariest adventure ever. We went with some friends to take the kids on a low key, easy-going canoe trip. The sun was shining and the weather was beautiful... until it wasn't. A severe thunderstorm came out of absolutely nowhere and we were right in the middle of the river with nowhere to go... literally. We were in our canoes about half way through the route which happens to not have any other places to get out. The wind was blowing harder than I have ever seen it and trees were snapping. It was raining extremely hard and lightening too. I was terrified for our safety, especially for my kids. We put the girls in the bottom of the canoe, covered them with towels and intertubes and just paddled and prayed as hard we could. We were so relieved when it finally calmed down and we made it to a spot where we could get out of the water. We can look back on it now with amusement but at the time, it was SCARY!
We have been saying for weeks, that we needed new bikes. HC had outgrown hers and mine was on it's last leg. We finally ventured out and found some new ones for us both. We also picked up some new helmets. We joined my aunt for a fun bike ride along the river on Sunday. It turned out being a much farther ride than we had intended, but the girls were serious troopers and ended up going almost ten miles! I was so proud of them!
We've been powering through our school work each day. I am really proud of how well the girls have done with getting done each day and not complaining (much). We've also come up with some new ways to entertain ourselves... including playing restaurant and "visiting" Disney World!
