What I Read - Gone by James Patterson

First off, I apologize for two book posts in a row. But, thanks to audio books and a long commute, I have been getting a lot of "reading" done lately...

I finally read my first ever James Patterson novel.  My Dad has always been a huge James Patterson fan and his bookshelves are full of his books, but I have never picked on up to read.  I thought it would be a fun idea for us to listen to an audiobook on our long car ride a couple of weeks ago so I checked out something I thought Jarrod and I would both like.  However, he thought that was a terrible idea so I listened to it by myself!

Gone is a story (apparently it is also part of a series) about a NYPD detective whose large family has been forced to go into hiding in the witness protection program due to a leader of the drug cartel being out to get them.  The story is pretty intense and somewhat bloody and gory with lots of guns and killing but is exciting and suspenseful as it follows Michael Bennett and his family on their search for the drug lord Perrine who has declared war on America.

I am not usually a fan of "drug cartel" stories but this one had me roped right into the drama.  I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to stealing some of my dad's James Patterson novels to read!

** On another note, I am so thankful that my parents have instilled their love to read in me!  Growing up, my parents ALWAYS had a book in their hands and I am so glad that has rubbed off on me!
